Food Review: After hearing that this place is owned by the same folks who own Mainland China and Sigree, we decided to try this out. First impression was that they have a really nice seating area with good cutlery and plates. The service lives up to their title phrase, "Real Chinese, Real Quick". The menu is fairly small with a little dabbling into Thai food as well.
The next thing to notice is that the prices are very reasonable. Almost everything is between 40-80 rs. If you go for fish or shrimps, the prices are close to a 100rs.

We ordered Chicken Haka noodles and the soup was served in less than 5 minutes. The soup tasted a lot like the Manchow soup in most places. There was an obvious taste of celery, but surprisingly, it complemented the soup well.

For appetizers, we ordered Fish Chilli Fry. This also was served in 5 minutes. This was a spicy, sumptuous dish. There was the typical garlic/ginger/red chilli sauce with deep fried chicken along with some spring onion, bell pepper and again, celery. Again, it complemented the taste.

Main course, we had shrimps in sweet and spicy sauce (Tasty with pineapple chunks) and Quick Braised Chicken sichuan style with veg fried rice. We were ordering more than what we typically eat, but the portions here are smaller than what you are used to in similar places. The food is very typical desi-chinese. Its actually like eating "tapari chinese" in a posh setting.
The dimsums sound good. Something to try next time.

The bill took a long time to arrive, contrary to the food. All in all, its a good place with good and cheap food for when you are famished or on the go..

A typical meal for two (non-veg) will cost somewhere close to 350 rs. A veg meal should cost about 250-275.

They have free home delivery.

TIP: Parking in lane 6 can be hard to find on a weekend. But don't worry - Silk Route has dedicated 4 wheeler parking spots in an empty lot opposite the restaurant. Make sure you are well covered if you plan to sit out at the mosquitoes are a menace just like any other garden in Pune.

Ambiance: Good for a nice dinner. We sat in the garden and there are about 6-7 tables in the garden. We reached at about 9 pm on a Saturday night and were able to find a place right away.

Food Review: We were drawn to Silk Route with the promise of Sushi and we were totally impressed. It has been almost a year and half since I had sushi and since this place is touted as the only Sushi-serving restaurant in Pune, we had to go. We ordered Hosomaki/California Roll Sushi and we were amazed to get perfect wasabi and soya sauce with the pickled ginger. The ginger was a little thick and strong tasting than what we have had before. The Sushi itself was fresh, tasty and made in front of you at a counter in the garden. The sushi was 400 rs.

Encouraged by the Sushi, we ordered a Korean crab and Asparagus soup which was also very tasty. The asparagus seemed like it was the canned kind. It was really not necessary. This was at about 100 rs.

For main course, we ordered the Hibachi(Japanese style teppenyaki with chicken with a side of shrimps or Lamb) We ordered shrimps. Teppenyaki comes with Miso soup as well as rice/noodles. The noodles might be a little dry for some. The chicken was plenty for the portion and also included about 4-5 shrimps. If you go there with full appetite, you might need one more dish. This was 300 rs.

For dessert, they had an array of desserts ranging from fried icecream, to the fried bananas, to the shaved ice and syrup indonesian dessert. We did not try any for the lack of time.

The menu boasts of Chinese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese food. If the others are as good as the Japanese food, Silk Route has found a new fan and a regular.
