By the Way

By the Way: Ferguson college Road. (same place as Haka).
Cusine: Multi-Cuisine.. Like all :)

Food: First off, the place has a very Middle Eastern feel with the whole POP thing going on.. but nice decor. We had chicken broth, it was quite bland, but then thats how broth should be I guess. For starters, we had bbq chicken wings, The garlic/ginger modification worked fairly well and it was a decent appetizer. (Do not expect buffalo chicken wings :))

For Main course, I had the Caribbean chicken (which was anything but Carribean, I have been to Jamica). But it was good. Garlic and chopped spinach rolled inside a chicken breast and topped with some green sauce with no determinate taste. Served with bread. It reminded me of a similar dish I had in Palo Alto downtown at a VERY Italian restaurant (I can't remember the name, but it closed down). So, it could be called Italian spinoccolli as well. Anyways, whats in the name. It was downright yummy and not heavy at all, since they went easy on the cheese/cream.

Neeraj had Thai green curry with shrimps. Pleasantly surprised to hear that white rice is included. According to Neeraj, they managed to get the green curry taste like Green curry and not a Green Red curry like most places. That is surely a good sign. I can't believe I did not taste it! Guess the screaming toddler did not help :)

Bill: About 1000 rs for two, no drink.

Would go back again, (without the toddler :)) and try other things as well..

Olives and Oregano, Baner.

Olives and Oregano, Baner

This is a newly opened restaurant on Baner Road, next to the Archies shop (in front of Rohit Wadewale)
Food: Veg nonveg. Multi-cuisine (Italian and thai)
Ambience: Feel like eating in a room..There is no decor on the walls, nothing to break the monotony of the whitewashed walls. The tables are placed like a wedding hall, and there is a split level seating with a lounge kind of seating upstairs, causing a tunnel like feeling.

The name sounded exotic and it was convenient, so we stopped by on a Saturday evening. First, the place does not have a washbasin!! Doesn't PMC require you to at least have a washbasin ?? The menu is a little here and here. They have Italian soups and Thai starters, like most multi-cusine restaurants have to have these days.

The roast bell pepper soup was really good, Neeraj loved it, while I was searching for a place where the kids could wash their hands! The pita and hummus was quite good.. so was the Chicken Satay. The main course was some chicken with steamed veggies and rice. I think they took the name of the restaurant too far. Thyme, oregano on the overload. Crushed, dried pieces everywhere.. No Olives to be seen anywhere :) The herbs start to get on your taste buds after a while.
Neeraj had chicken in bbq sauce. After being assured it was boneless chicken, he ran into a "boney, chewy piece" that just put him off. Again, the bbq sauce was the Hickory brand, (Might as well buy it at Fine Foods in Aundh and make your own bbq chicken).

All in all, service is still new. After I asked for water to wash the kid's hands, it took them ten minutes or so ..when they did give it, it came in a soup bowl!! :D I should really focus on other things, but can't get over it..

It seemed like a better place for takeaway as the food was really not too bad, but the service needs a whole lot of improvement.

Siiip at Prabhat Road

Location: This place is at the Prabhat Road police Chowky, in the same building as Ghodke Mithai Wale and Titan Eye+. You can't miss it once you are there..

Juices and Salads:
This is what Pune was missing.. good quick salads. With crunchy iceberg lettuce..varied dressings.. And juices. Freshly squeezed. If salad is not your idea for a meal, they they also have sandwiches. The grilled cheese I ordered for the kids was a little greasy, the kids loved it. I am not sure it would eat the whole thing without guilt. The garlic bread was great as well. But the same thing. Its loaded with butter. Guess will suggest the lower fat butter next time.

If you are a salad buff like us, this is the place you have been waiting for.

Ambiance is good. The seating could be better. They have ottomans which is not a comfortable thing at all. They have one table with a proper sofa+ seats.

Will get their phone numbers next time I am there...

Kiva's tiffins : Kamla Nehru Park

Address: Bang opposite Kamla Nehru Park. You can't miss it.

Cuisine: Udipi and a little more

Review: Good food. Cheap food. The Sambar was too sweet. Everything else was good. Make sure you don't sit near the paav bhaji hot plate, or else you are going to get some serious eye-watering!

Review:
This is a classy place, time to get out the formal shoes and pants and put your make up on. Of course, you can always be a "don't care" :)

This place is still not very crowded, we had no wait at all. Step out on the deck and you will be amazed. The wooden flooring, the service, the view.. absolutely amazing.

The restaurant inside serves Indian food (Which I am told is quite good). They also have a lunch buffet at about 290 rs. They serve Italian-ish food on the deck outside. The starters, soup and pizza was awesome. Main course was good for most, except the lamb steak (some similar name, I don't remember) was chewy. I am not sure if it was overcooked, or that I ate it after a while.

Mashed potatoes to go with it were divine. I am guessing the chewy meat was a blooper. The veggie stuff like pasta was really good. Pizza was a thin crust pizza and a welcome change. (authentic thin crust)

Pricing about 400 rs for the main course, 100 rs for the soup. Portions are quite huge. We had to skip dessert.

They have an amazing bar section with a psychedelic bar and even better view :) They also have a separate section for private parties for a group of 40. It is a nice place if you want to impress your friends/family/coworkers.

Tip: Carry a shawl or sweater if its a little cool. It definitely is cooler up there. Not really a place for kids, since most of the guests are there was a quiet dinner or business dinners. Your screaming kids will embarass you..
